October was a busy month for JF but he’s never too busy to give a little back. On 4th October he joined Simon Young & Sarah Hartnett at Cyrus Todiwala’s Café Spice Namaste restaurant to cook in memory of a much loved chef and friend Peter Hazzard who sadly died earlier in 2016. The dinner inspired by Peter’s love for food and drink raised funds for a great charity supporting those in need in our industry.

For the past three decades, one man – chef Peter Hazzard, former Food & Beverage Director of Sodexo – worked harder than most on behalf of Hospitality Action, helping to raise hundreds of thousands of pounds for fellow hospitality colleagues in need.

Simon Young served up a delicious starter of miso and mirin glazed salmon with pickled ginger, watermelon and cucumber. JF surprised the guests with his interpretation of the 80’s favourite dessert turned on it’s head with a pie, pea and mash “Bollywood Vienetta” a dish created to evoke Peter’s spirit of adventure and creativity.

Cyrus and his team served a superb chicken chilli dish for main course followed by an assiette of Asian influenced desserts by Sarah Harnett. Each dish was paired with a selection of stunning wines. We can’t end without mentioning two special addresses at the end of the evening from firstly Cyrus then another legend in the food world – Ken Hom.

You could hear a pin drop as Ken talked so warmly of his friend Peter and his valuable contribution to the food and drink industry. The evening was one of celebration of a remarkable man which raised over £20k for Hospitality Action.
